8 Days The Great Ruaha Treasure

Day 1:  DAR ES SALAAM  to NYERERE NATIONAL PARK { SELOUS GAME RESERVE}

You will be picked from your airport or hotel in Dar and be transferred to Selous. Once you arrive, you will have lunch, then go on an evening boat safari.

The boat safaris are conducted in sturdy metal boats with a powerful outboard motor on the back and a covered canopy. Each boat safari is guided by a boatman who has grown up on the river and knows all the little nooks and crannies where a boat can sneak through like the back of his hand. They are also well aware of hippo and crocodile behavior having spent so many years’ safely guiding people between them. The boat safaris provide some of the best water birding in Africa as well as getting up close and personal to hippos and crocs which swarm through the river system, be they wallowing in the water or basking on the banks

Day 2: FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE IN  NYERERE NATIONA PARK {SELOUS GR}

 Nyerere Nationa Park (selous game reserve) boosts larger population of Elephants as well as large numbers of Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile and endangered Wild dog. Commonly seen are pride of Lion, Bush buck, Impala, Warthogs, Ostrich, Giraffe, Eland, Baboon, Zebra, Hyena, Kudu, rare sable antelope and Leopard. In Selous there are more than 400 species of bird life: Fish eagle, Kingfisher, Secretary bird, Sunbird, Hammer kop, Red & Yellow bill stork, Open bill stork, Weavers, Water birds, Marabou stork, Vulture’s etc.

Day 3: NYERERE NATIONAL PARK{ SELOU GR}TO MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK               

Enjoy an early morning walking around the bush land to the lake shore with professional local guide accompanied with armed ranger. Later on  drive  to Mikumi National Park with packed lunch.

Day 4: MIKUMI NATIONA PARK  TO  UDZUNGWA NATIONAL

Earl wakeup enjoy the  breakfast then heading in the savanna for a game drive.  Mikumi also known as{The mini Serengeti} The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain  the popular center piece of Mikumi. Commonly seen animals are Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope, Wildebeest, Eland, Crocodile, Hippo, Baboon,  if you are lucky, won’t miss to see Lion & very lucky to see a Leopard, over 300 spices of birds are seen are saddle bill stork, hammer kop, malachite kingfisher, lilac breasted roller, yellow throated long claw, battler eagle etc. Another attraction: the Hippo Pools, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range then after lunch hit the road to udzungwa National Park, miikumi  to Udzungwa is around 1.5 hr. Udzungwa is the largest and most biodiversity of a chain of a dozen large forest-swathed mountains that rise majestically from the flat coastal scrub of eastern Tanzania. Known collectively as the Eastern Arc Mountains, this archipelago of isolated massifs has also been dubbed the African Galapagos for its treasure-trove of endemic plants and animals, most familiarly the delicate African violet. Not a conventional game viewing destination, Udzungwa is a magnet for hikers. An excellent network of forest trails includes the popular half-day ramble to Sanje Waterfall, which plunges 170 metres (550 feet) through a misty spray into the forested valley below.

Day 5: UDZUNWGA  NATIONAL PARK  TO  RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will depart from Udzungwa-mountain national Park to Ruaha National Park, drive southwest towards Iringa. On the way you will pass the scenic valley of the Great Ruaha River where majestic baobabs trees grow. Shot visit of the Isimila historical site of Stone Ages (about 21 km from Iringa town), but it’s an optional there is chance on the way back to Dar es Salaam but if you might fly from Ruaha Air strip it’s a fortune chance.  Then continues with  drive to Ruaha will take up to 6hrs arrive in the evening and check in for your accommodation ready for a next day  full  game drive.

Day 6: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

The day will begin with an early morning game drive, starting at sunrise and going through to breakfast. After breakfast there will be a drive through various habitats with various animals, birds and more stunning scenery of the Mwagusi Sand River as well as the Mdonya River. Stop for some lunch in the bush followed by further game viewing until sunset.

Activities:  Full day game, an option of carrying lunch boxes or drive back to the amp for hot lunch

Day 7: ANOTHER FULL DAY IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Ruaha is still very rich in different animal species especially the cats compared to other parks found in the Tanzania southern tourism circuit. Ruaha is a habitat for Lions, Leopards and Cheetah. But also other animals of interests found in this park includes Bat eared foxes, Jackals and endangered wild dogs Other animals and attractions you should expect to see includes but not limited to Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, impalas, warthogs, elephants, hippos, different birds, plants and reptiles.

DAY 8:  RUAHA NATIONAL PARK TO DAR ES SALAAM

Early morning of this day after having breakfast you will be drop off at Ruaha Air strip. Or driving  back to Dar es Salaam via Iringa and Morogoro town. You will have stops for refreshments and lunch in Iringa and Morogoro. When you arrive in Dar Es Salaam you will be taken to your residency or any place of your choice.
