Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Elevation: 2,360m → 2,895m

Trekking Time: 3–4 hrs |
Vegetation: Rainforest

Start your climb at Londorossi Gate, with Kiliclimb guides handling all formalities. Trek through lush rainforest alive with colobus monkeys and exotic birds. Reach Mti Mkubwa Camp for your first night under a starlit African sky with a hearty camp-cooked dinner.

Day 2: Mti Mkuwa to Shira 1 Camp

Elevation: 2,895m → 3,505m
Distance: 8 km
Trekking Time: 5–6 hrs
Vegetation: Moorland

Ascend through dramatic moorlands, passing giant lobelias and heather. Cross the ancient Shira Plateau, with breathtaking panoramic views, and arrive at Shira 1 Camp, where the sunset paints the sky in vivid shades of orange and pink.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

Elevation: 3,505m → 4,200m
Distance: 11 km
Trekking Time: 5–7 hrs
Vegetation: Alpine Desert

Traverse the vast Shira Plateau, entering Kilimanjaro’s alpine desert. Marvel at lava towers and unique volcanic formations as you reach Moir Hut, a remote campsite offering solitude and stunning wilderness views.

Day 4: Moir Hut to Third Cave Camp – Skipping Buffalo Camp

Elevation: 4,200m → 3,800m

Vegetation: Alpine Desert

Descend from Moir Hut towards Third Cave Camp, bypassing Buffalo Camp. Experience untouched northern landscapes, crossing dramatic ridges and alpine terrain. Relax at Third Cave and soak in Kilimanjaro’s serene northern wilderness.

Day 5: Third Cave Camp to School Hut – Summit Preparation

Elevation: 3,800m → 4,800m
Distance: 12–15 km
Trekking Time: 5–6 hrs
Vegetation: Alpine Desert

Continue ascending through alpine desert terrain to School Hut, your base for the summit attempt. Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your Kiliclimb chef and a comprehensive summit briefing. Rest early to prepare for the midnight summit push.

Day 6: Summit Day – School Hut to Uhuru Peak, Descend to Millennium Camp

Elevation: 4,800m → 5,895m → 3,100m
Distance: 6 km ascent / 12 km descent
Trekking Time: 6–8 hrs ascent / 4–6 hrs descent
Vegetation: Arctic

Depart at midnight for your summit push. Ascend through steep scree and rugged terrain to Stella Point, then onward to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement with sunrise views over the Rift Valley. Descend to Millennium Camp for overnight rest.

Day 7: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate – Return to Moshi

Elevation: 3,100m → 1,640m Distance: 10 km Trekking Time: 3–4 hrs Vegetation: Rainforest Descend through lush rainforest trails to Mweka Gate, where you receive your official summit certificate. Our vehicle transfers you to Moshi, giving you time to relax, celebrate, and share stories of your extraordinary adventure.
