Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Gateway to Adventure

Karibu Tanzania! Your Kiliclimb Africa Safaris guide will warmly welcome you at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Bus Terminal and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. Relax and prepare for the unforgettable days ahead.

Day 2: Arusha National Park – Walking Safari & Game Drive

Your first adventure begins in Arusha National Park, one of Tanzania’s hidden gems. Enjoy a scenic drive through lush forest, sparkling lakes filled with flamingos, and the foothills of Mount Meru.
Go on a thrilling guided walking safari with a park ranger — an intimate experience where giraffes, zebras, and colobus monkeys appear just meters away. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful night.

Day 3: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its towering baobab trees and massive elephant herds. Explore this wildlife-rich paradise where lions, leopards, and countless antelopes roam freely.

Enjoy a picnic overlooking the Tarangire River before continuing your game drive. Sunset in Tarangire is truly magical — a golden sky over the baobab-studded plains.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park – Forests & Flamingos

Today, head to Lake Manyara, a spectacular park nestled between the Rift Valley escarpment and the soda lake.

Marvel at tree-climbing lions, hippos lounging in the water, and hundreds of bird species. In the nearby town of Mto wa Mbu, explore local markets bursting with color, taste sweet red bananas, and meet the friendly people who call this region home.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – The Eighth Wonder of the World

Descend 600 meters into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to Africa’s densest population of wildlife.

Spot the legendary Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — as well as wildebeests, zebras, flamingos, and more. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the crater floor before heading to your lodge overlooking the rim.

Day 6: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, journey into the endless plains of the Serengeti, the heart of Africa’s wilderness. Watch for lions lazing in the sun, cheetahs scanning the horizon, and elephants crossing the golden savannah.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the afternoon for relaxation, followed by an evening game drive under the Serengeti sunset.

Day 7: Serengeti Full-Day Safari

Rise early for a sunrise game drive — the best time to witness predators in action. Optionally, take a hot air balloon safari for breathtaking views followed by a champagne breakfast.

Spend the rest of the day exploring the Serengeti’s diverse ecosystems and, depending on the season, witness the Great Wildebeest Migration — one of nature’s most spectacular events.

Day 8: Serengeti – Karatu

After breakfast, drive back toward Karatu, passing through scenic highlands and traditional Maasai villages. Stop for souvenirs and local crafts along the way before enjoying a relaxing evening at your lodge surrounded by rolling hills and coffee plantations.

Day 9: Lake Eyasi – Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes

This morning, set out for the remote and culturally rich Lake Eyasi. Visit the Hadzabe Bushmen, one of the last true hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa. Join them on a traditional hunting walk, learn how they make fire, and experience their ancient way of life.

Later, visit the Datoga tribe, skilled metalworkers and cattle herders, before returning for dinner and rest.

Day 10: Lake Eyasi – Lake Natron

Drive through wild, breathtaking terrain toward Lake Natron, a surreal alkaline lake glowing pink with flamingos. Along the way, see herds of zebras, giraffes, and wildebeests grazing across the plains.

In the afternoon, hike to the Ngaresero Waterfalls, where you can swim in crystal-clear pools surrounded by dramatic cliffs — a hidden paradise in northern Tanzania.

Day 11: Lake Natron – Maasai Villages – Arusha

After breakfast, choose between a cultural visit to a Maasai boma or a guided hike near Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred volcano of the Maasai people.

Enjoy the final scenic drive back to Arusha, passing Maasai villages, volcanic landscapes, and endless savannah. Relax and celebrate your last night in Tanzania.

Day 12: Departure from Arusha

After breakfast, our team will transfer you to the airport or bus station for your onward journey or flight to Zanzibar for a beach extension.
Your adventure with Kiliclimb Africa Safaris may end today, but the memories will last forever.

Why Safaris in Tanzania Can Be Expensive

Tanzania is one of Africa’s most exclusive safari destinations. Costs are influenced by:

  • National park and protected area fees (e.g., Ngorongoro Crater entrance alone is $295 per vehicle plus $70 per person per day)
  • Luxury accommodation & mobile camping inside protected areas
  • Limited tourist numbers and infrastructure challenges
  • High taxes and bureaucracy

Despite these factors, Tanzania offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences — from UNESCO World Heritage sites like Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti with the Great Migration, and the Ngorongoro Crater, to the rare Tanzanite gemstone and the Selous Game Reserve, Africa’s largest protected wildlife area.
