Founded in 2017 and based in Arusha, Tanzania, Kiliclimb Africa Safaris was born from a dream to offer authentic, accessible, and unforgettable travel experiences in East Africa. It is a proudly locally owned, operated, and family-run business led by Moses and his wife Naite Saruni Together, they have built a company rooted in their passion for Tanzania’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Naite, who holds certificates in both Accountancy and Travel and Teaching, plays a vital role in managing the operations of the company alongside Moses.
Moses’ journey to becoming a respected guide was filled with challenges. Raised in a family of 11 children in a small village, he was the only one to attend college, working hard to support both his education and his family. He took on various jobs, from bartending to street work, before finding his way into the travel industry.
He began as a porter on Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, enduring tough conditions and long hours. Through perseverance, he rose to become a trainee assistant guide, then assistant guide, and eventually lead guide. Over the years, Moses gained invaluable experience, working for both small and large companies and successfully guiding over 1,500 clients to the summits of Kilimanjaro (295 successful summits) and Mount Meru (over 30 summits). He has also led countless safaris across Tanzania’s iconic landscapes.
During his time in the industry, Moses noticed that many large travel companies, often foreign-owned, were inflating the costs of safaris and climbs by taking significant cuts. This made Tanzanian adventures inaccessible to many travelers. Additionally, many of these companies lacked personal experience in the destinations they were promoting, leading to a disconnect between travelers’ expectations and their actual experiences.
A Dream Realized
Driven by a desire to provide more affordable and authentic travel experiences, Moses decided to start his own company. After guiding thousands of clients and gaining deep knowledge of Tanzania’s wilderness, he and Naite launched Kiliclimb Africa Safaris in 2017. Their shared vision was clear: to offer exceptional, reasonably priced adventures that make Tanzania’s natural beauty accessible to travelers from all walks of life.
In addition to his extensive guiding experience, Moses holds a postgraduate degree in Tourism, Travel, and Wildlife Management. His certifications include Wilderness First Aid Responder from the Sentinel Institute Outdoors in the USA and Basic First Aid Instructor from First Aid Africa He has also received rifle training for walking safaris, making him one of the most skilled and knowledgeable guides in East Africa.
