Arrival Day 0 – Airport Pick-Up and Transfer to Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, a friendly Kiliclimb Africa Safaris guide will be there to greet you. You’ll then be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha, where you can unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 1 – Arusha to Materuni Waterfalls and Chemka Hot Springs

Morning Departure to Materuni Waterfalls

Start your day with a scenic three-hour drive from Arusha to Materuni Waterfalls, nestled at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Materuni Village is a hidden gem, offering a unique blend of breathtaking scenery and vibrant cultural heritage.

Here, you’ll experience the stunning views of Moshi Town and the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro, with its snow-capped peak rising majestically against the skyline.

Materuni Waterfalls and Cultural Experience

Materuni Waterfall, one of the tallest in the region, cascades down 70 meters into a refreshing natural pool surrounded by lush greenery. The hike to the waterfall, located 2,500 meters above sea level, is a journey through tropical rainforests, valleys, and hillsides adorned with local “shambas” (farms) where coffee, banana, and avocado thrive. Your guide will share the unique history and lifestyle of the Chagga people, adding a cultural layer to your scenic adventure.

Pro Tip: The hike can be moderately , so sturdy hiking boots are recommended.

Afternoon Visit to Chemka Hot Springs
