Part 1: Treetop Walk — A Walk Among the Canopy

Elevated Perspective
The Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway is Tanzania’s first canopy walkway, stretching 370 meters and rising up to 18 meters above the forest floor. This elevated trail lets you immerse yourself in the lush acacia and fig forests, observing the ecosystem from a unique “bird’s-eye” viewpoint.
Suspension Bridges & Platforms
The walk consists of a series of suspension bridges and wooden platforms built around large trees. These vantage points allow visitors to pause, photograph, and enjoy sweeping views of the forest below and the Rift Valley escarpments in the distance.
Wildlife & Flora
The forest is alive with activity. Spot vervet and blue monkeys, tree-dwelling birds, colorful butterflies, and even shy forest antelopes below. Birders will delight at the variety of canopy species, including hornbills, turacos, and woodpeckers.
Panoramic Views
From the canopy, enjoy vistas of Lake Manyara’s shimmering waters, the surrounding savannah, and, if lucky, wildlife grazing at the forest edge. The walkway provides excellent opportunities for photography, especially during early morning or late afternoon light.

The treetop experience usually takes 45–60 minutes, allowing for guided explanations, wildlife spotting, and photography.

Part 2: Canoeing on Lake Manyara — Glide Through Serenity

After your treetop adventure, transition to the peaceful waters of Lake Manyara. Canoeing offers a quiet, low-impact way to explore the lake’s edge, where wildlife gathers to drink or feed.
Wildlife Highlights

-Hippos: Often partially submerged, keeping a watchful eye on paddlers.

-Birdlife: Over 400 bird species inhabit the lake, including pink flamingos, pelicans, kingfishers, and cormorants. Seasonal migrations can fill the lake with spectacular flocks.

-Other Wildlife: Occasionally, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes can be seen along the shoreline.

Canoeing trips typically last 1.5–2 hours and are best undertaken in the dry season (June–October), when water levels are lower and wildlife congregates near the shores.

Learn about traditional farming, cattle grazing practices, and how local people coexist with the park’s wildlife.
